Set among rolling foothills, this expansive lodge offers everything from spa treatments to Sunday brunch..
The Scene
Sprawling over 450 acres of the Sangre de Cristo foothills, the resort is a self-contained complex that caters to active travelers. Guests can ride horses, hike, skeet shoot, take a Pilates class, play tennis and more on the expansive grounds. For those who want to venture beyond the ranch, the resort offers shuttles to the Plaza (just 10 minutes away) and the slopes in ski season.
The Details
One hundred eleven rooms, ranging from older traditional rooms to expansive deluxe suites are housed in fifteen lodges. All rooms include fireplaces, and most are blessed with porches and mountain views. In addition to stables, a pool and gym, the resort features a spa and restaurant that's especially popular for Sunday brunch. Perhaps the oldest attraction on the grounds, the tiny chapel built for Bishop Jean Baptiste Lamy offers a glimpse into the resort's long and fascinating history.

Spectacular Getaway.
I just returned home from a stay at the Bishop's Lodge Resort and Spa, and I must say that I had a wonderful time and definitely received my money's worth. Kay, our concierge, picked out a beautiful breakfast spot and came back to check on us to make sure that we were comfortable. In fact, the entire staff was helpful and sincerely cared about the quality of our stay. I have read some of the negative reviews on this site, and completely disagree with what others have had to say about the resort. They must be mistaking the Bishop's Lodge we stayed at with a lower-scale hotel. I am quite insulted that the Bishop's Lodge is vulnerable to such ignorant slander.

Please upgrade.
The architecture of the is resort is great. The service is severely lacking. The hostess was rarely at the front desk and usually had to scramble to seat us for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The wait staff is stretched too thin and I felt forgotten about. Also, the dining room decor is horrible. I hit my knees on the chairs every time I sat down. I resore, is so somewhere you want to stay for the whole weekend, not debate, how are we going to eat. Also, please update the rooms, - no table for room service? The shower head only gave a trickle (how can you relax with that?) The room needs new furniture! Way too sparse. We had to ask for an Iron twice before it arrived (and it didn't even spray a mist)
