I love this Salon. Everyone there is really nice. It looks good. Everyone leaves with great hair. My stylist is Jessica Crockett, she is the best hair stylist that I have ever been to. She gives great haircuts and has referred me to my favorite hair products, she introduced me to Bumble and Bumble. I use the Sumo Tech and the Semi Sumo now. So glad I found this place.
Super-Model Gorgeousness – This is the only place that I go to when I need to feel like absolutely gorgeous - like supermodel, J-Lo gorgeous. True, the price only affords this working girl/supermom/Realtor, a once or twice-a-year visit, but as the adage goes "You get what you pay for", and his blowouts are worth every penny! I've frequented hair stylists from Santa Fe (other boutique salons in town...now out of business - go figure), and as far as Taos, Pojoaque and even Espanola (I was desperate!). Rick Jett, the owner, not only has a uber-cool, space age name, but seriously a gentle touch and a knack for a timeless cut and color. I've recommended blondes, strawberry blondes, men and other latino lovelies to him, with appreciative remarks after their appointments. He is a classy guy with a classy establishment, and he always laughs at my jokes and sarcastic nature without chatting too much, but allowing me to float off into sweet, scalp-massage oblivion. He's even on Facebook with informative postings every day ("Friend" him, please). With all these accolades, I feel I should be fair and critique the salon with something to "work on"...so here goes: the waiting area needs to dump those plastic chairs. You can be retro-chic with the furnishings, but my bum needs more cushioning! Rock on, brother!
Best Place in New Mexico to get Gorgeous Hair – I have been a loyal client of Rick's for several years. I have continued to drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe every three months consistently because I know my hair will look healthy and the style will be current, but still suit me. I always leave the salon feeling pretty and pampered.
Highly Professional & Best Salon in Surrounding Area – I do not live in Santa Fe but within the surrounding area and have been one of Rick's (owner) clients for over 10 years. I constantly get compliments on my hair and have referred many people to him and his salon. The salon IS the best in Santa Fe. All of the staff and stylists are extremely friendly and professional, the salon is immaculate and has a vibrant atmosphere, and the beauty products are top of line, especially the Kerastase products. Rick you can never leave!
Staff must have changed in '09 -- entire staff happy & good! – I read the other reviews, and you'll notice that the only two negative ones were from quite a while ago now, all of them since have been nothing but very positive. That has certainly been my experience -- not only all the stylists and nail techs, etc., but the customers too. To me that's a great sign, and sure enough, I got just as much talk and advice as I wanted, and the results were great. Yes, it's not as cheap as "Cuts R Us" or whatever, but this is definitely a case of you get your money's worth. And they're far from the most expensive in town, and a lot better than a couple of places I'd better not mention that cost way more AND give you attitude. Like goldstarvw says, I'll be back!
2 great cuts – I had two great haircuts by Charles this summer. I liked him because he was friendly, but not overly talkative which worked for me as sitting in the chair was one of the few times I had to sit and relax. Today I had the best hairwashing experience- great scalp massage and the stuff used on my hair smelled great and made my scalp tingle in a refreshing way.
My only complaint, and it really isn't a complaint, is that at peak hours it can get a little too busy, crowded, etc. This happened last time, but today it was calm and pleasant. I will return again.
Best Haircut Ever – I just had the best haircut of my life from Melissa at Chrysalis this weekend! $60ish + tax and tip but to be honest well worth it!
GREAT SALON I LOVED IT!!!! – I love this salon I alway recommend it to everyone I know. The whole staff is nice and friendly. They listen to your needs and wants. Everyones talent is amazing. I have been to other salons and this one is the best. Don't make the same mistake I did by going to another salon GO TO CHRYSALIS!
WAY TO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET!! – My husband stopped in while out of town. They didn't have a price posted. He asked for a quick buzz cut. He has not specific style, all the same length. it took her 5 minutes and she charged him $50.00!!!! They were rude to him about it when he complained.
My stylist was bitchy! – After I showed her a picture (which she never looked at again) she cut me something that looked like David Bowie in the 80's (ok I did ask for 'hip,' but come on, short/rock stary on top and long in the back?) and then when I told her to please cut that shorter, she snipped, "You know, it's really hard to do a good job when you don't know what you want half way through a haircut," and more mean words that I don't remember, but anyway she almost made me cry and I'm not sensitive like that. Called to complain, no one returned my call. NEVER wasting my money at this place again.
