Santa Fe >Blueberry
overpriced edible food.... I ordered blueberry pancakes at a place called 'Blueberry,' but my pancakes hardly had any blueberries. The wait staff is quite spacy and doesn't seem to know what they're doing. If you want a good organic breakfast, go to Cloud Cliff. Chocolate Maven is a great 2nd choice. Don't waste your time or money at this place.
Interesting experience and quality attitude.
I've got to tell you, before you read on, that I despise customer service. Either side. I loathe serving people and I am less fond of being served by people who pretend not to loathe serving people-especially at restaurants.
The Blueberry Cafe is a total exception. I love this place! The food is good. The seating situation is awkward until your cozy table is ready and then it's okay at best. But, what gets my attention everytime is the service...the service is weird. It is almost abusive---I love it! These people might be the answer to my search to understanding my true self. They resent everything and it is delivered with such charm and humour that it is like having lemon sorbet. It's sweet even though it's sour. I love being served their healthy portions, but what I love the best is being served that attitude! Bravo! Finally, a staff not afraid to be themselves. The 'fake it until you make it' rule does not apply at the Blueberry Cafe- these characters are real!
I have enjoyed their organic delights several times and, each time, I have left laughing at the strange and bizarre customer service moments that I witness. Screw TV! This place is entertaining. For some reason, the BC draws a unique crowd who amongst them...one annnoying sod is destined to make a customer faux pas! And that faux pas will not go without notice and mention! It is truly an experience.
If you go...go for the amusement and enjoy the great menu while you are there! Nothing like it in the West!
Parking is good, too! Oh yah and try the blueberry pancakes!
Cold Food and Cold Service.
I wanted to try Blueberry ever since I saw their ads in the local paper. They advertised good, organic food, great service, and a great environment. The menu looked great and there were so many things I wanted to try. The seating was prompt and there is a ton of parking, since it is in an outdoor shopping area near a giant supermarket. That's where the fun ends. The waiter was cold and seemed annoyed to have to serve us. He never smiled or even greeted us, he just said, what do you want to drink and disapeared. He took our order just as quickly and without any comments. Then the food came and that's where things got even worse. My boyfriend's order was wrong and the fries were cold. We finally tracked down another server and he promptly put in a new order. (we think that was the owner--he was the only one who smiled the whole time). My " grilled chicken "sandwich was cold, the bread seemed to be 2 days old and the potato salad was gross. My boyfriends hot sandwich finally arrived and it too was cold. The only thing good about either meal were the new, hot sweet potato fries that came with his order. For a place who claims to cook everything to order, to only serve fresh, organic food, this place was disgusting. You'd have a better meal at a gas station.
I was so disapointed by every moment of the meal. Maybe breakfast is better, but we are never risking it again. Go to THE RAILYARD or COUNTERCULTURE or CHOCOLATE MAVEN or THE PANTRY if you want a good lunch or breakfast. There are so many better places and I am sorry I will never add this place to my list.
High quality food with natural or organic ingredients... it does make a difference.
With a layed back environment and friendly staff, this place is quickly becoming a locals destination. The ORGANIC MULTI-GRAIN CAKES are large enough for 2 to share and tasy enough to eat without any topping. However, if you do like your syrup (as I do) beware, they do not have that brown-colored-sugar-water that you get at a cheap Jersey dinner. Blueberry offers 3 toppings: real maple syrup, organic maple syrup, or (I think you have to ask for this now) blueberry juice-infused honey. Recently added is "The Burger" which is 1/2 pound of Niman Ranch Organic Beef. Order medium-rare to get the full taste of the organic beef with it's juicyness intact. I like it with the brie cheese and horseradish-mayonaise, both toppings not found at your neighborhood burger-flipping joint.
The only complaint I have is their ice cream selection and choice of suppliers is terrible. They server one flavor of ice cream: blueberry. To be frank, it is not actually ice-cream, the company from which they get it makes gelato. As far as gelato goes this is not good gelato. It tastes more like ice-milk and cannot be made in to a decent milk-shake which would go great with their new burger. To add insult to injury, there are excellent ice cream manufacturers in Santa Fe (Tara's Organic) and Taos (Taos Cow) but the owner will not waiver on this bad decision.
If you are not a big beef eater there are other "real" selections. There is an exceptional corn chowder, the turkey chili, the eggs and other breakfast amenities as well as fruit.
If you have children, they have a menu of smaller items for them as well as a large screen TV to keep them preoccupied so you can enjoy your food.
Open for breakfast and lunch, Blueberry is worth the trip to the south-side of Santa Fe.
good brunch place. Good place have a brunch.... Excellent waffles and omlettes.. I would definitely go there again.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Organic cafe serves up breakfast, lunch and dinners to go. Menu items include multigrain pancakes, meat loaf sandwich, salads and more.
A TOUCH OF CLASS (AND INCREDIBLE, ORGANIC FOOD).
I arrove at Blueberry after driving in from Taos, New Mexico.
It was just before noon on a gorgeous fall day. I walked in and the first thing I noticed was the bright atmosphere and warmth inside. The decor is very tasteful and the counter top had been wiped clean of any dust or debris. The entry was clean and the glass was free of smudges. Upon approaching the counter I was immediately greeted by two friendly store associates.
I wasn't sure if tofu was a popular item in Sante Fe (since I had only seen a large amount of fast food I am guessing not) and I decided I MUST have the tofu pan scramble. The dish comes with an order of pisole which was not something I had ever heard of or tried before and it was simply delicious and flavorful. Talk about flavor, the carmelized onions in with the green chile was TO LIVE FOR!!! PLus the blueberry lemonade on a Hot day mixed with the lively music made the experience HEAVENLY!!! Of course I drank SO much I needed to use the restroom. I was IMPRESSED to see a baby changing table--what a family conscious business owner to include this.
Even though I do not have a family I can EASILY see how this HEALTHY restaurant to be both parent and kid friendly. In fact, I would go a step further and rate this the OVERALL friendliest/best restaurant I have eaten in in ALL of New Mexico.
Keep up the good work!!!
WOW BLUEBERRY FROM LA IS IN SANTA FE!!!!!!!!!!!!. Blue Cakes to Pan Scrambles this place has it all. I am so excited to see Blueberry opening here. The owner is a cool guy with lots of experience, as I recall he had Blueberry in LA for a number of years and is pretty innovative. I see the Dinner-2-go thing, that's new! What can I say this guy knows what he's doing. I will be there for breakfast 4-6 days a week, I love the blueberry lemonade! I hope they still serve free coffee on the weekends. As I recall the weekends were sometimes over an hour wait, but it was always worth it. Well done, and thanks for bringing Blueberry to Santa Fe.
